Historical Attractions
The story of the battle of Normandy is told in our museums, historical sites and places of remembrance.
1066: Falaise was the birthplace of William, Duke of Normandy, later known as The Conqueror on his return from the Battle of Hastings after he was crowned King of England. Nine centuries later, one morning in June 1944, the Allies landed on the shores of Calvados. Here the bloody Battle of Normandy and the conquest for liberty began.
